DISCOVER SHIYENZE: Fashion Week Open Atelier
Sept. 11–13, Shiyenze Fashion, 87 George St
Three days inside Roselyne Shiyenze’s atelier during NYFW, with one-of-one clothing, bold textiles, styling, shopping and direct conversation with the designer. Shiyenze describes its broader work as sustainable African streetwear blending heritage with contemporary silhouettes. This is exactly the sort of brand access that can teach more than watching a distant runway.
02. RUNWAY PICK
The 2026 People’s Runway
Sat. Sept. 12, 6–9:30 PM, Brooklyn Borough Hall
Brooklyn’s own public-facing NYFW runway places local design talent in a civic space rather than behind an industry velvet rope. The official Borough President calendar confirms the event; reporting on this year’s edition notes a Brooklyn designer cohort and a public plaza setting.

Brooklyn Bound: Fashion vs Fantasy NYFW Show
Sun. Sept. 13, 6–9 PM, ErF Gallery
Handmade designers show five-to-seven-look collections, followed by direct shopping, with live music folded into the event. That combination of runway + maker + retail + music is very close to CHR’s own ecosystem.

7 Words of Hope: The Future of Handmade
Sun. Sept. 13, 2–3:30 PM, Mary Jaeger
Mary Jaeger moderates a New York Textile Month discussion about handmade work, textiles, couture, luxury and resilience. Her atelier itself uses shibori, pleating, natural fibers, repurposed material and three-dimensional fabric manipulation. This is unusually close to the questions CHR is asking about craft, sustainability and recognizable garment identity.
05. THE FASHION vs DANCE PICK
Soca Social Brooklyn
Sat. Sept. 12, 6–11:30 PM, Famous Last Words
This one almost feels Radar-engineered: Caribbean community, Soca, social movement and a stated dress direction of “Caribbean atelier style.” It gives CHR a chance to watch how culturally expressive clothing, grown-up nightlife and dance-floor practicality coexist.
