Vinyl Tuesday #24, Calle 8 × 8

Free | 21+
This is the grand opening of El Fresco’s new Calle Ocho space, built around vinyl, local art and Miami creative culture. Local artists were invited to create original 8" × 8" works interpreting Miami, while Safe Stadick + Louiedeology handle the vinyl DJ sets. There’s also an open portrait session for the PATH Archive and a collaborative community art activation.
And unlike a museum exhibition, it offers direct access to the people making the scene. The PATH portrait archive angle is particularly interesting because the event is consciously documenting Miami’s creative community while that community is physically gathered in one room.

02. Sports and Art PICK
PAMM: Get in the Game: Sports, Art, Culture + Free Second Saturday
Sat. Sept. 12, with the exhibition closing Sun. Sept. 13 at Pérez Art Museum Miami
More than 100 works examine athletics, creativity and cultural identity, and the exhibition closes this weekend. Saturday also brings PAMM’s free Second Saturday programming. Sport here becomes image, identity, uniform, body and culture rather than simply competition.
03. DANCE PICK
CYPHER DIVINE: Break Jam
Tues. Sept. 8 + Thurs. Sept. 10, 9 PM–12 AM, Central Command Inc
Central Command lists an open-floor breakdance cypher twice weekly for $5. Floorwork, freezes, power, footwork!
04. Art and Installations
Mette Tommerup: High Tide Low Tide
Sat. Sept. 12, exhibition 10 AM–4 PM; first movement intervention 12–2 PM, Deering Estate
The opening intervention pairs Tommerup’s shoreline installation with a movement artist on the waterfront lawn. The project treats tide, landscape, painting, architecture and the moving body as one system. The relationship between material, environment and motion.
05. Culture
Taste the Caribbean
Sun. Sept. 13, 10 AM–5 PM, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden
Junkanoo, folklore singers, Mento, reggae and Latin blends sit alongside dance lessons, a Caribbean marketplace and visual culture throughout the garden. The clothing, color, movement and multigenerational audience are as interesting as the formal performances.
06. Fashion
Miami Design District Saturday Double-Header
Sat. Sept. 12, Miami Design District
The district has both its Public Art Tour and Chancha Vía Circuito at The Roof scheduled Saturday. That creates a neat CHR itinerary: study art, architecture, luxury retail and street presentation in daylight, then shift into music and movement at night.
