CHR Brooklyn Radar: House Dance, Detroit House + Caribbean Sound | Oct. 2–4
Brooklyn is the deeper movement-culture weekend, with Detroit house, house-dance history, Caribbean sound, Jersey-house energy and an unusually good Sunday run.
1. 🏆 SEEDS: Caleaf Sellers + Bendito + Jeremy Giros
Sunday, Oct. 4 | 6–11 PM | SpinnaVerse BK location revealed to registered guests
This is the Radar event of the week across both cities.
SEEDS is explicitly about the origins and evolution of house music AND house dance. The program includes a screening of Wreckin’ Shop: Live From Brooklyn, a moderated conversation with house-dance pioneer Caleaf Sellers, then an actual dance session led by Bendito and Jeremy Giros.
This is exactly why we expanded the Radar beyond club listings. It connects the DJ booth to the dancer, history to contemporary culture and records to physical vocabulary.
Why CHR: House history · house dance · Brooklyn culture · DJs + dancers · documentary/history · community transmission
2. 🖤 RAW CUTS x House of Yes: DJ Minx + Bridge + JMT
Saturday, Oct. 3 | Doors 10 PM | House of Yes
Detroit royalty lands in Bushwick.
House of Yes describes DJ Minx as one of Detroit’s influential underground selectors, with Bridge and JMT joining in the main room and additional Raw Cuts selectors in the Onyx Room.
The venue is also asking guests to keep phones away on the dance floor, which gives the night a more genuine dance-first character.
Why CHR: Detroit house · Black electronic-music lineage · selectors · performance · expressive nightlife
3. ⛪ The Nursery: Floorplan + CARISTA
Sunday, Oct. 4 | 3–9 PM | Public Records
This Sunday afternoon has almost absurd CHR compatibility.
Floorplan, Robert and Lyric Hood, bring house and techno infused with gospel, disco, funk and soul, while CARISTA ranges through jacking house, broken beat, electro, bass and techno.
It connects Black Detroit electronic lineage, gospel feeling and newer European selector culture without becoming a museum piece.
Why CHR: House history · soul · gospel · disco · broken beat · multigenerational DJ culture
4. ☀️ Family Affair: Hot Honey Sundays + NYC Collectives
Sunday, Oct. 4 | 3–9 PM | McCarren Park House
This one has a lovely community pulse.
Hot Honey Sundays is bringing together multiple NYC crews including Moving Company, NYC Rave Girls, Third Floor Sounds, Vin.yl and others for a free outdoor house party intended for friends, kids, chosen family and even dogs.
Why CHR: Local house ecosystem · community · outdoors · emerging selectors · dance without velvet-rope theater
5. 🔊 NO STANDING
Friday, Oct. 2 | 10 PM–4 AM | Friends and Lovers
Friends and Lovers has SeanGreenTea, Chip NYC, JKCRadio and STICKIRIC3 covering hip-hop, Jersey house, Afrobeats and club classics. The venue’s own description is wonderfully direct: pull up ready to dance. Friends and Lovers
That mixture is extremely CHR and gives Brooklyn a strong alternative to strictly four-on-the-floor programming.
Why CHR: Hip-hop · Jersey house · Afrobeats · DJ culture · Brooklyn neighborhood club energy
6. 🇯🇲 Fete Fridays: Soca Therapy
Friday, Oct. 2 | 10 PM–4 AM | Round 2 Cafe, Utica Avenue
For Caribbean Brooklyn, this deserves a Radar slot. The lineup rotates through DJs playing soca, reggae, dancehall, kompa and Afrobeats, with names including Massive B, DJ Stakz, Sweet Vibes and others.
Why CHR: Dancehall · reggae · soca · Caribbean sound-system culture · neighborhood nightlife
7. 🌍 Bush Cook Festival
Sunday, Oct. 4 | 11 AM–10 PM | Restoration Plaza Amphitheater
Bush Cook describes itself as an outdoor celebration of African-American culture across America, the Caribbean and Africa, combining music, art, food, creators and a day-party environment.
Why CHR: Black diaspora · Brooklyn community · music · creators · local businesses
This week the dancer, the selector, the lineage and the neighborhood. 📡💿🕺🏽
